After doodling what I thought would remain as a black and white drawing on silk, I started fooling around with dyes and wax. I didn't take it too seriously until it came out of the steamer late yesterday afternoon, and then I rather liked it.
My question to you is this: would it be better applied to a piece of canvas as is, or quilted and then hung in some fashion?
I really hope you will comment on this........pretend you are part of my crit group and say whatever you think (good or bad) because I value your opinion and need some guidance here!

I love it - it seems very delicate with multi layered colour and pattern - it would be a shame to loose the delicate touch with whatever you do to it - so my question back is which of the two techniques you mention would complement the light touch the piece has - or is there a third choice!
It is beautiful. I painted lots of flowers on silk. I stretched them over thin styrofoam that you get in craft stores and framed them like that. Applying them to canvas would lose the hand. I like them framed without glass although lots of mine are behind glass too. I haven't quilted on silk much so no opinion there. I agree with Karen that it would be a shame to lose the delicate look of it.
It's beautiful! I say stretch it over thin styrofoam, as Joyce suggested, and frame it!

It is so fun and full of movement. I can see the wind blowing through.
You could stretch it over foam core and see how you like it. After a point if you feel it needs something else you could then explore the options.

Hi Judy, I can't help to think it needs smaller scale flowers in the background or either the dark curly lines. And since you asked, I think it would be better quilted and hung on the wall, possibly a border but definitely a small binding.
It is beautiful. What about mounting it like a medallion on a darker background and then lightly quilt it. You could incorporate the movement into the boders. Whatever you do, it is stunning. Cheers
It's so beautiful. I haven't worked with silk so I'm definitely winging it here, but I think it would look fabulous layered as a quilt and quilted.
I vote for the quilting. It is a beautiful drawing. I think a black narrow binding would bring out the black in the drawing and nake it look more finished and contained.
Judy I think it is beautiful and lacks nothing!!! The depth in the background is awesome and brings the flowers forward.

Very lovely! I would opt for hanging it...and somehow emphasizing the stems. I wonder if quilting would compete with some of the curley-q's. Perhaps framing it with black would be the right touch. Whatever you decide will only make it even more lovely!!

Judy, this is so lovely - but delicate quilting perhaps with shiny silk thread would really add to it, I think.
I'm with those who vote for quilting it, with a superfine (maybe silk) thread. Very pretty.
