Sensory Overload

I was catching up with my friend Gerrie and her blog last night, where she had posted this the day after Barack Obama won the 2008 Presidential Election:

"On January, 20, 1993, Maya Angelou spoke these words at the Bill Clinton inauguration, and they mean even more today!!

Here on the pulse of this new day
You may have the grace to look up and out
And into your sister’s eyes, into
Your brother’s face, your country
And say simply
Very simply
With hope
Good morning."

I kept thinking about those words by Maya Angelou, and while we walked Barker this morning, I really felt those words, and realized that I too had been experiencing the release ever since last Tuesday night.

And where were you when you heard that Obama had indeed won the election? One newscaster that I listen to, said that that will be another of those moments that we will remember forever....I hope so. And I hope that this feeling of hope and excitement over the future never, ever is taken from us again!

Along with the wonderful feeling deep in my soul, my eyes are being treated with so much candy in this early part of November. Our view across the lake is, as always, phenomenal:

I bought some lovely Noro Cashmere Island yarn the other day, and am knitting up a scarf. The soft wool, cashmere and nylon blend just feels yummyagainst my fingers ........and addicting!

My friend Mary makes the most wonderful soaps. Although she lives in our hometown and we attend the same church, we see eachother most often at the Green Market at Piedmonth Park, where we trade tales of our standard poodles (she has two pups and their mom!). I picked up a bunch of her lovely bars the other day, with the intent of giving them as little Christmas gifts. One is

and I know that I cannot part with it! I made the mistake of putting it in my knitting bag with the scarf yarn, and now it has become part of the scarf, perfuming the luscious strands as they head out of the bag, up through my fingers and on into the scarf...and another memory in the making! Go here to read more about Mary and to perhaps place an order of your own. My personal faves are the Frankincense & Myrrh, Spearmint & Eucalyptus, Bayberry & Spruce, End of the Day, and Lavender....but she has many more flavors from which to choose! MMMMMMMMM

Sock progress is as follows:

These lovelies, knit from Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock Icehouse yarn, are almost finished. And talk about soft!!! They have also been a delight to finger!!! And can you see the cute little needles? Talk about sensory overload: the wood is multicolored and very smooth on my fingers!

Hope you're also enjoying a seriously sensuous sensory overload this weekend too!

PEACE, HOPE CHANGE:
OBAMA/BIDEN 08!!!

Hi Judy, Tonight was a fabulous program. Mr. Gray who played Elijah, was so powerful. What a voice. I got him to autograph the drawing I did of him on my program. It was great to see you there. After I left you sold everything, right?! Show me the MONEY!! Hey I love your socks and other knitted items. I knit too, but not as great as what you do, and I buy my yarn at Walmart. I am so excited about Barak. Monday he and his wife are going to the White house. I wish I could hear what they are going to talk about. George will probably show Barak his presidental shower. The conversation might go like this..." NOW BARAK THIS HERE IS THE PRESIDENTIAL SHOWER. YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T KNOW THIS AND YOU PROBABLY NEVER SAW ONE, BUT ITS GOT THESE WATERS SHOOTING OUT FROM ALL DIRECTIONS,UP AND DOWN AND SIDEWAYS, NOW ISN'T THIS WORTH EVERYTHING..AH..AHA...AHA.!!!!!!. Well its late and I am getting too goofy. Have a good night. Becky
