Wednesday Wednesday

What a wild and crazy day I had! While most of it was loads of fun, some aspects really tested my patience. I'll start with the fun part!

I had overbooked myself with lunches! And here I thought the iPhone calendar would prevent things like that from happening! note to self: enter dates on the calendar! LOL Oh well! It made for an interesting day. First my dear friend Bobbie and I had a great lunch at a very interesting seafood market here in our little town. Several weeks ago while lunching there, we had noticed that they offer frogs legs. We both love them and hadn't had them in years, so decided we'd return and give them a try. They were GREAT!!! As I mentioned in an earlier post, Dr. Sock had also invited me to join her for lunch with Fleegle. Fortunately, there was an hour and a half between the two lunches! I was good and just enjoyed the conversation over a couple of cups of coffee. Our friend Judy M also joined us. Judy has sheep and dyes, spins, and knits their wool; while both Dr Sock and Fleegle dye, spin and knit sans the four-legged critters. They are all way beyond me in this area, so it was a great educational time for me!

Here's Fleegle with one of her beautifully knitted lace shawls:

Dr. Sock recently finished this incredible sweater:

I am in total awe of these talented ladies!

After such a terrific middle of the day, I headed for the Social Security Administration office, armed with a briefcase full of my Mom's paperwork. I arrived at 3:20: little did I know that the office closes at 3:30 PM. What office that is there to serve the people closes at 3:30?? The good thing was that most folks who carry on business there, know the hours of operation, so they were all gone and I only had to wait about 5 minutes for my number to be called. All I wanted them to do was change Mom's direct deposit of her SS check from one bank account to another. When she was still able, Mom had arranged for me to have Financial Power of Attorney (as well as many other legal titles), BUT the folks at Social Security won't accept that. I have to submit another form to her Dr, have him fill it out and sign it saying that Mom is no longer capable of managing her financial affairs and THEN after they carefully inspect that document, I will become her 'representative payee'. SHEESH!!! I know, I know: some folks have abused this privilege and the government is only looking out for my Mom.....but really!!!

We are having the main hall in the bedroom wing of our house painted, as well as the guest bedroom; and the ceilings 'depopcorned'. I couldn't wait to get home to see how things were coming along, as Monday and Tuesday had been the days for removing the old popcorn ceilings and patching the walls. The painters had left for the day by the time I finally got home, so I carefully opened the guest bedroom door..........and they had painted the trim the WRONG COLOR!!! I shrieked in dismay, and Barker and C came running to see what was the matter! I had carefully chosen a very soothing but upbeat lemony yellow, but what I was seeing was the tan that I had requested for the hall. I was so very disappointed. So, this morning, they are back, undoing a good bit of yesterday's work. They are great guys and simply laughed it all off!

It was a bone chilling and finger numbing 22 F when Barker and I took our early morning walk on the golf course. There is still a lot of unmelted snow, and he just loves to run along, scooping up mouthsful! He is enjoying the cold weather, while I must admit that I've had quite enough! I was quite amused to see this, perched on one of the irrigation control boxes

After yesterday afternoon, I must admit that I was almost disappointed to find the bottle empty! LOL

and here's the view of our frozen lake at 9:00 AM

thanks for listening!!!

PEACE

Wow! How could you even talk sitting across from two such accomplished knitters? Gorgeous shawl and sweater. I used to work for a company that contracted with the Feds and always felt that the more hoops they could make you jump through, the happier they were. I hope you ended the day with a warm toddy! Cheers.

Can you believe that I once did knitting like that? I think I would go blind now.

Didn't you have a wrong paint or stain color in the kitchen, too? I think maybe that was C's fault! LOL

Judy,I'm particularly fond of the Vodka bottle photo. It would be great in a fiber collage, there's an entire story right there.
