Thanks to you all who left comments or emailed me privately concerning my Mom's current condition. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful and comforting the good folks in the blogosphere are!

Caroline, I still cannot get your link to work! How frustrating!

As you can see, I've been doing some rusting! Gerrie got me going with her great Flickr pictures from the studio tour she took last week in SF, and then Jeannie added fuel to the fire, while telling me about rusty nails and such that they had found while rebuilding an old terraced bed. Actually, I am fortunate to have a great stash of rusty objects due to the generosity of my good friend Robin. You may recall that he gifted me with a real treasure trove a couple of years ago. This first picture is of some silk ribbon that spent just a little over 12 hours in with the rusty objects.

This is silk organza, left for the same amount of time in another bath of rusty objects. At long last I have found a positive aspect to the incredible humidity here in the South.

This is another piece of rusted organza upon which I've printed an old letter written by my sister-in-law Molly's mother. I'm going to incorporate it in the wallhanging that I'm doing for Molly, using dyed bits of her mom's damask napkins. My progress is slow, but it's taking time to assemble all of the pieces.

We went to see Crazy Heart tonight. Have you seen it? Jeff Bridges performance was phenomenal: an Oscar winner for sure! He reminded me so much of Waylon Jennings, while C thought he was a dead ringer for Kris Kristofferson. I recalled 40 years ago when I was having dinner with my parents at a swanky restaurant on Cape Cod, and Lloyd Bridges, accompanied by Beau and Jeff, sat at a nearby table. At that time, Lloyd was getting all of the attention and his boys were just that: his boys.

Thanks again for your outpouring of love and comfort! I love you guys!!

PEACE

Now I want to try rust dyeing. Sigh. I need more hours in the day.
I love the idea of rusting the letter. What a nice reminder of her mother that will be for Molly.
