Happy New Year!

As 2010 closes and 2011 rapidly approaches, I'd like to take a minute to thank you all for continuing to read my blog and for leaving such marvelous and inciteful comments.  As you know, I really enjoy your feedback, and often it is because of it, that I continue to write.  I wish you all the best in 2011: peace, good health, happiness, and lots of creative moments.

Above is the quilt for our grandson Charlie, which I finished binding earlier this week.  I hate to sew on the binding, but I love to wash a new quilt and see how the batting and the cotton fabrics pucker up a bit.  I'm pleased with the way it turned out, and really cannot wait to make him yet another quilt.  I think that the next one will be hand dyed fabrics of my own....and now that we know he's a boy, I may just make it in blues!  Here's a bit of the border and binding:

ha: I'll bet you didn't know that I love polka dots!

We are grateful to be spending New Years Day with our daughter, son-in-law and new little healthy and adorable grandson.  We will be enjoying traditional Southern New Years fare, which includes 'Hoppin' John', Collard Greens, and cornbread.  Hoppin John is a dish comprised mainly of black eye peas, which are supposed to resemble coins, thus bringing you good luck in the coming year.  The collards suggest green bills, also bringing you riches in the new year.  I've also heard folks say that if you 'eat poor' on the first day of the year, you will be guaranteed riches throughout the coming year.  Who can resist that?  I am rich in family, love, and much good fortune, so I ask for no more than what I already enjoy.  I am content.......but I'll still eat my greens and peas!

Speaking of content, how's this:
