Collage Monday

Last night when C and I took Barker for our evening stroll on the golf course, we witnessed this lovely sunset.  Thank heavens for iPhones!

I am taking a collage class offered through one of the local universities.  As C says, this is part of their 'old peoples' offerings!  Anyway, I thought it would be fun to learn a bit more about collage, even if only once a week for eight weeks. I was so surprised and overjoyed to find several of my friends as classmates...and there are only ten of us total in the class!  I love that!!  We were instructed to bring a subsurface, glue, a sturdy brush, and papers.  Today we were supposed to do a horizontal collage.  I brought along a huge folder full of clipped magazine and catalogue pictures....mainly of colorful clothing or home dec items.  They proved very useful.  I had last night's sunset in mind when I tore up my papers.

At the close of classtime, we gathered together and displayed our 'works of art', framing them with a mat, which really does improve how they look!

Mine had originally looked like this:

but when one of my classmates asked if the red area was a bird or a downed airplane, I changed it to this:

I know that there is lots of room for improvement, but it was so much fun being out with friends and playing!

Oh, and here's a sneak preview of something I'm working on in the dye studio here at home:

more on that later!

PEACE

Artichoke? Your collage class sounds like so much fun and your first project is great. I love the moody blues in your sunset photo. Cheers!

I agree with Jeannie! Took the words right off my keyboard.

Sorry darling Judy, but I laughed and laughed at your friend's question about your collage. I think artichoke too. Looks yummy. xox

The artichoke is a splendid idea. A cabbage might work, too, wouldn't it?
Collage is fun! I used to work with chipped journal adverts. They had so many beautifully graded backgrounds.
