Art Cloth Mastery 2010 Show!

The Art Cloth Mastery 2010 Class Exhibition
opened last Thursday evening
at the Radius Gallery in San Antonio.

This was the culmination of three years of study
with the great teacher and artist Jane Dunnewold.
It was an honor and privilege to have been included
in this group of very talented women.
There were 12 of us,
and we became much more than colleagues during our time together.
Jane was and is so much more than a teacher and mentor.
It is difficult to put into words the feelings of love
and admiration that I hold in my heart for each and every member of this group.

Above are three of my five pieces that
are hanging in the show.
The long one in the center, "Letters Home",
was the last piece I completed.
I think you can see the progress that I made in this series -
I know that I can!
I intend to expand upon this series now that I am home,
and have plans for at least two more pieces
directed towards letters home.

A group of local San Antonio poets viewed the show
after it was hung but before it opened.
They wrote poems about several of our pieces
and read them at the opening.
I was honored to have a beautiful poem written about "Letters Home".

We have a show blog, which you can see here.
It includes many photos from the opening
plus bios and artist statements from group members.
In the next few days, a collection of the poems will be shared,
plus a YouTube of the poets reading their work.

a couple more shots from the opening:

seated: me, Leslie Rego, Laurie Brainerd, Jill Becker, Allison Brown-Cestero
standing: Karen Terckes, Shirley Metcalf, Jean Dahlgren, Ann Graham,
Jane Dunnewold
Angela Maroun, Annalisa Jose, Diane Sandlin

what a fine group!

peace

It was great to see your work in person, Judy. All of the work is excellent - I plan to go back and get a closer look without all the crowds!
