Eucalyptus!

My wonderful sister-in-law, Molly,
has twice gifted me with packets of Eucalyptus leaves
from Southern California.
I am indeed a lucky girl!
Eucalyptus is like gold to a natural dyer!
So, I am making the most of her generosity,
and learning the fine points of Eucalyptus dyeing.

About a month ago, I dyed two bundles,
and I unfurled them two days ago.
I'm really excited about their outcome.
The piece of silk pictured above was rolled on a copper pipe.
I love the different layers of color.

Above is the entire length of silk.
I felt like I had won the jackpot!

Here are two more detailed shots:

Needless to say, I've pretty much gone over to the 'dark side'!
I have at least one more series piece to complete using
manufactured dyes.....
but I wonder where I'll go from there?
only time will tell!

peace

Judy, that cloth is beautiful. I too like the variety of color from the euc leaves. Dark side or not, you are creating beautiful cloth.

the shape and colour of the leaves are lovely. Is there a significance to using the copper?
