I Made a Book!

I have always been in awe of hand-made books.
It is indeed an art.
My friend Connie Rose often shows her wonderful creations on her
She has spurred me on and added fuel to my fire of desire
to create book art.

I had the privilege and honor of taking my first lesson
with local book artist Claudia Williams today.
(sadly, she has no web presence)
The class was originally scheduled at our local art center,
but, unbelievably (to me, anyway)
the class did not make.
Claudia graciously invited me to her home....
and I was thrilled!

When we spoke on the phone earlier this week,
I told her that I had hopes of using some of my own fabrics for the covers.
Claudia told me to bring them along.
This piece, from my stash, was begging for attention.
I cannot take credit for this beautiful piece of hand-dyed silk noil,
and I regret that it is not tagged,
but I believe it came from either Gerrie or Jeannie (blogless).
Will the creator please fess up?

Claudia and I spent a wonderful day together -
discovering so many things that we share in common!
........and I learned so very much from her!
It was fabulous!!!!!

So, here are a couple more pictures of my very first book:

What a great day:
a new artist friend
and
a new art form!

peace

Great book, Judy. How many signatures inside, and how is it sewn? I may be inspiring you in new directions, but from the getgo you've been outpacing me in everything you undertake! Way to go! xo

ohhh Judy - love this - these type of books would make nice gifts. I would like to invite you to link up to our Off the Wall Fridays where fiber artists are sharing their creative endeavors for the week.

Judy, the book is gorgeous! I am asking all the questions Connie has asked as well. :) The fabric may have come from here, but I am not sure. My CPU needs some defragging, I think. LOL! You are on a creative roll!!! Wishing you a wonderful weekend! (Now don't put the book on the shelf! Draw, Paint, Play!!!)

Judy this is absolutely beautiful! I have a thing for journals and notebooks. I have made a couple of little journals for a dear friend using cardstock and soy silk fusion pieces. I wonder what you will capture in this lovely book.

Peace!
