Finishing Up

remember the 'cloth paper' I showed you last week?
or was it the week before?
Well, I have had fun this week
constructing an 'Acorn House'
for Charlie.

I'm sure there isn't such a thing as an
Acorn House -
except in Charlie and MiMi Land.
We have always been fond of
collecting acorns,
and our collection really did need a home.
So, I created this house
using 20 gauge wire as the supports,
and then covering it all with the
cloth paper I had made.

We had a visit with them (the grands and their parents)
 the other evening,
and when our daughter saw how very fragile
the Acorn House was,
she cautioned me that Charlie is only 2
(well, in his defense, he'll be 3 next month!).
I told him the house was very fragile
and he'd have to be very careful with it.
He carried it like it was spun glass!
I overheard him showing it to his Dad,
telling him that it was very fragile and
'be careful!'

It was a great learning experience for me.
Even if it doesn't survive for a week,
I learned a lot,
and Charlie had the fun of receiving it
and playing with it for a while.

I also got to give Maggie her hat.
I think she likes it -
what do you think?

Our weather has turned unseasonably cold!
The kids had a nice fire in their fireplace

Charlie loves a good fire -
and of course if there are S'mores,
that's even better!

Maggie is just happy to be!

thanks for stopping by!

Have a great weekend!

peace to you and yours!

What better way to teach a child the concept of "fragile" than with something that can easily be repaired? I love the acorn house and it makes perfect sense to me. :) I can't get over how much Mags and Charlie look like siblings. It really sunk in tonight. Oh how I wish for a fireplace! Have a beautiful weekend and have fun doing whatever! xoxo

What a beautiful acorn house. Charlie sounds like my cousin's granddaughter who is very careful with the way that she handles delicate items too. She was three last month.

Maggie looks to be enjoying her new hat which is so pretty.

Beautiful children, and they are so lucky to have you. I love Charlie's acorn house, and that it's fragile. He will learn so much about taking care of beautiful things and if it gets wrecked, that's a lesson too,but not a disastrous one to learn. Maggie is gorgeous in her hat! xox
