I wanted to show you some of our new stonework that is being done around our house. Here is our front walkway, taken this morning in the rain:
Our stonemason is cutting out the old grout, sanding off the old mortar underneath, and relaying all of the fieldstones. It is quite an intensive and dusty task!! He did such a fine job on the front walkway, that C and I decided it would be a good idea for him to continue around the house and do both the pool patio and the lakeside patio. UGH!! As I was vacuuming on Tuesday, I could see the dust filtering in around the door jams: cough, cough, sneeze, sneeze! And we thought our house was relatively well-sealed!!
Here's Barker lounging away on the newest section of the pool patio:
and here's where they left off yesterday:
you can see how very dusty it is....and if you can't, perhaps you can see it below, all over my Asters, as they are just beginning to bloom:
I had yesterday pretty much to myself and was able to make this new Sowz Earz purse:
I found a lovely silk dress at the thrift shop on Monday afternoon for next to nothing, so brought it home and decided it would make a nice lining for this purse. I also covered a button and attached it to the front for closure:
I'll use scraps of the silk for beads.
I also completed this purse, which had been "in the works" for a couple of weeks:
I've been playing around with this piece of silk:
It actually began as a sketch on a piece of habotai. I was trying out the black resist and demoing this wonderful new-to-me gutta for my silk painting group. A few days later I ended up with some leftover dyes from a scarf, so I filled in the black outlines on the rooster and flowers. Then I decided to cut them all out and affix them to a stretched piece of white fabric. I haven't as yet glued them down, so if you have any repositioning suggestions, please speak up! You have until Monday morning!!! (I suppose I could have cropped the picture before I posted it, but you get the general idea!).
Have a great day!
PEACE

Barker is such a handsome guy. Does he know it? Your lovely silk work is making me almost want to make purses - but no, not my thing. But I love seeing what you do.
The stonework is looking really nice. I like the silk just the way it is. Also love the purses. It's amazing what you can find in thrift stores. They are among my favorite shopping places.
I’m glad on your behalf, that it’s raining I mean.
Here we are happy if it’s NOT raining ;-)
The stone work looks very good. It’s always something that needs to be redone when you live in and have your own house. You are never completely free from it. Advantage and disadvantage =)
Hope you will have a nice weekend!
