The Cutting Edge

Ever since I learned a bit about lino cutting and printing in a great surface design class that I took from Rayna Gillman, I have wanted to know more. I often read Dijanne Cevaal's blog, and when I saw that she was
going to be teaching an online lino cutting class, I just had
to sign up. I am a bit behind because when I began the
first assignment, I realized that my assortment of cutters
was not complete! So, I had to order more and they

have just arrived. I am totally addicted to this! The first picture shows my
nine patch 'sampler' printed on newsprint.

Here I've printed it on one of my very first pieces of hand-dyed fabric.....you can plainly see why I wanted to print on this fabric! LOL
I used black textile paint on the first two pieces.

Here I've used some silver textile ink.

I'm so in love with this process....can't wait to do more carving and printing! I ordered several different types of lino from Dick Blick, as I wanted to see what was out there besides the Speedball, which I have used in the past.

PEACE

I too have started with lino cutting / printing and think it is great. Purchased lino and tools and now need more time, or perhaps a need, to go further. I think the results are great.
Thanks for your comments on my blog, Judy.

I like the idea of carving a 4 patch. I have tried carving but am always a bit at a loss as to what to carve...

Somehow I just knew that you would love carving- it IS addictive!!!!! I do hope that when you say lino you mean rubber?? The lino is so impossible to cut and the new printing rubber blocks cut as smooth as butter!!!!!
Can't wait to see more!!

Hi Judy, I love your lino cut prints. A good friend of mine makes hand printed cards in this way that are gorgeous! I can't wait to see how you use this process in conjunction with all your fabrics.

Peace!
