all wound up!

I could barely wait for my hand-dyed yarns to dry so that I could see their true colors and wind them up.  I love the one above, but think that next time out I will concentrate on fewer colors and more of a gradation, just to tame it down a bit.  (me: tame?????)

of course, this one calls my name loudly and ever so clearly....but how will it look next to a pair of jeans?  well, it'll be a surprise at the bottom of my pant leg, that is for certain!

aren't the lovely all wound up!

no, even I wouldn't put them together, except here!

I have been interested in these images for quite some time now, and decided to take pictures of them today....who knows, they may be gone the next time I walk by this house!  stranger things have happened!

Last night C and I enjoyed a wonderful treat: we listened to a fabulous lecture by Bishop John Shelby Spong at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta.  In my humble opinion, Spong is one of the most intelligent, insightful and indeed witty Theologians of our time.  We arrived in the lecture hall a bit early, were able to get front row seats, and then much to my surprise, Christine Spong sat down with one reserved seat between us!  About ten minutes before the lecture began, Bishop Spong entered the hall and took the reserved seat between us.  What a thrill!  If you haven't read any of his books or heard any of his lectures, I highly recommend him to you.

PEACE

Yummy yarns and I love those totems! Are they metal or wood? Great design source for some screens.;) Have a great weekend.

After reading a few snippets of Rev. Spong's website, I think it is very sensible and not so unusual -- at least, in our protestant churches, his opinion should be more or less common sense.
Lovely colors of that wool!

I heard Bishop Spong lecture at Washington National Cathedral a few years ago as part of a series that included Marcus Borg and Tom Wright. They were all fascinating. I'm a real fan of Borg. If you've never read "The Last Week" by Borg and Crossan I highly recommend it--a perfect Lent or Holy Week read. I have to admit that as much as I loved the Spong lecture when I tried to read "The Sins of Stripture" I ended up throwing it across the room (literally). Fortunately no one was around to see me treating a book with such disrespect. Perhaps I need to try a different title. I'm in a different place now and might find it more to my liking.
