A Log Cabin to keep Charlie warm

I'm trying to get back into some semblence of a groove around here, but it's proving to be a huge challenge!  We spent three wonderful days in the city this week, visiting with Charlie and his parents, doing a few errands for them, bringing them meals, and holding that dear child whenever we had the opportunity.  Both our daughter and son-in-law are great about offering Charlie up, so we snap at the chance.  I finished sewing the blocks together on his quilt a few days ago, but our weather has been less than kind of late, and I wanted to take it outside to sandwich it before beginning the machine quilting.  I rushed out to the patio early this morning, with the threat of yet more showers in the forecast, and snapped a pic after I'd gotten the quilt all assembled.  It's certainly not your basic baby quilt....and it's big (about 54 x 54"), so it will be good for him for a very long time.  I hope he (and his parents) will like it.  I know that the colors will go excellently in his nursery.

I've also been doing a bit of housekeeping:

I had several silk screens that needed to be reclaimed, so I got out Jane Dunnewold's Improvisational Screenprinting DVD, studied her very clear directions, and got down to business.  Now I have four new screens to use...it's such a good feeling!!  I am working on a wallhanging for (who else?) Charlie and am doing a lot of screening, so having screens in good working order is important.  I hope to have pictures of a very cute piece of fiber art to share with you in the next week or so.........depending upon how life treats me!

So all is very good here, and I hope it is with you as well.  Thanks for all of the well wishes and sharing of joy when Charlie arrived.  Many friends had told me that a grandchild would bring on feelings of such incredible joy, and they were right!  It's grand and I love it!!!

PEACE

Could you come out and reclaim some screens for me?

The Charlie quilt is wonderful.

Love Charlie's quilt. He'll have to lie on it because babies aren't allowed to have blankets these days. Emma will get her quilt in a couple of months, when she is a year old - but still can't sleep with it.

Love the log cabin and I know Charlie will too, because his Grammie made it just for him. What do we call you now?;-) I got my screen already for next spring this fall. Now sitting here strumming my fingers waiting. Have a glorious Sunday.

The quilt is great, I love the fact that is doesn't scream 'baby!'. Stay well and hug/hold Charlie all you can- you're lucky he's so close!

Love the baby quilt. I'm not a fan of pastels for babies. This one will be perfect for years. It sounds like you are very much enjoying your baby time. They grow up so quickly you have to enjoy it while you can. Most of my grand babies are in university now. Sigh.

The quilt is wonderful, Judy, I'm sure the family will love it. Lovely for you & C to have had a few days with Charlie while he is so new. It really is a joyous time - and you'll have his first Christmas very soon. xx
