Field Trip

I took myself on a little field trip to a local cemetery yesterday.
I'll share a few of my photos.

isn't that a comforting thought!

I'm not sure if you can read the inscription below Lizzie's dates.
It reads:
"Her last expression was
A redeemed sinner saved by grace.
Her last word was
Darling"
Poor Lizzie must have had a hard life -
brought up in the deep South during the Civil War,
and dying only a month after her 24th birthday.

This is my favorite:

The backside is very rough and quite ugly,
but the Virgin is so delicately carved.
Here are details:

even the hem of her dress is delicately carved

Mighty storms blew through our area last night,
but thankfully we dodged another bullet.
Thank you all for your emails of concern and well wishes.

peace

Lovely, lovely photos. So glad to hear that you are OK. The weather is really reeking havoc isn't it? I'm so sad for everyone that suffered any kind of loss.

I meant to say "wreaking" instead of "reeking".

You are in my thoughts, with all that crazy weather. My few years in the midwest convinced me I'd rather deal with earthquakes than tornadoes!
