A Wonderful Ride!

The leaves of the Sassafras Tree continue to amaze me.
They are leaving wonderful prints on watercolor paper!
Each day, I remove another layer of paper,
as it dries, and I am stunned at the lovely images!

Tonight was the opening of our annual Members' Show
at the Quinlan Art Center here in my town.
I entered only one piece:
"Pickled Beets & Cherry Pits".
We attended, as usual, and had a great time visiting with friends.
I needed to drop C off at his book club meeting,
but the award presentations began just before we were about to leave.
I was astounded when I heard my name called for an
Honorable Mention!!
WooHoo!
There were hundreds of entries
- all beautiful -
- all worthy of an award!

So, I am honored and humbled to have been a recipient.
I'm sure I've showed her here before,
but just in case you missed her,
here she is:

Congrats Judy. You deserved! Love so much this pattern and the color of this piece. Your watercolor paper prints are great. So soft and looks like watercolor painting.

Congratulations, Judy!!! That gorgeous piece certainly deserved an award!

And how did you get those prints from sassafras? I keep trying, but my sassy leaves will not print. Sigh!!!

Congratulations Judy! It looks beautiful. How are you printing images on the watercolor paper? I have some paper that I would love to use, but it is a finer weight. I was thinking of using the paper as a backdrop to drawings. Do you think this would work with your method? Thanks! Leslie Rego

Congratulations, Judy- that piece is beautiful. I've been very interested in watching your experiments with natural dyeing, though I know full well that my feet are firmly planted in the MX camp!!
