The Birthday Boy

Yesterday was my husband Craig's birthday,
and we had a terrific time celebrating!
Sad to say,
I have no photos of the birthday boy -
too busy having fun to even snap a picture!

We enjoyed lunch at
the wonderful Italian restaurant
located on the ground floor
of our condo building.

In the early evening we went
to Horizon Theater to see
which was fantastic!
The music *gospel * was great,
the acting perfect,
and the message was poignant.
If you live in the Atlanta area,
be sure to go see it!

And of course,
we celebrated afterwards with dinner at
our favorite Midtown restaurant.
When dining there, we enjoy ordering
small plates and sharing.
The chef is always preparing new
and innovative additions to the menu.
Last night I had their fabulous
cucumber gazpacho with heirloom cherry tomatoes
and trout roe.  MMMM
I also ordered the
'local squash salad, Grana Padano, Calabrian chili vinaigrette'.
Grana Padano is a cheese similar to Parmesan,
and it was grated over the top of very thinly sliced
yellow squash and zucchini.
The Calabrian chili vinaigrette
was to die for!
I asked Michael, our server,
if it would be possible to obtain the recipe,
and before we knew it,
the chef was at our table with a list of ingredients
and a description of his process for preparing the vinaigrette.
I'll let you know how it turns out!
I wonder if Whole Foods carries the Calabrian chilies?
........only one way to find out!
We were stuffed, but then
Michael brought us complimentary
chocolate truffles and two flutes of champagne:
a perfect way to top off a fantastic celebration!

We will celebrate later this week
with our family -
hopefully there will be a camera present then!

thanks for stopping by!

peace to you

Belated birthday wishes, Craig!!! It sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate his special day. I am going to have to look for those chilies. We have a lot of Hispanic grocery stores here. Have a wonderful week!
