Rescuing a Sock

I've spent a nice, quiet weekend reading
and knitting.
The side effects of chemo are with me,
so I'm just laying low and enjoying
peace and quiet.
The sock above was a dilemma,
but of course my friend Dr. Sock
had the solution!
I had knit in a 'lifeline' for an afterthought heal -
but after thinking it over,
I realized that the lifeline was way too high,
and that the foot would be entirely too long.
What to do?????
Dr. Sock showed me how to install a new lifeline
at the correct location,
and then I knit my afterthought heal there.
But what to do with the first lifeline?

Dr. Sock suggested I take up those stitches,
as if to knit an afterthought heal,
and weave the two rows together with the Kitchener Stitch.
Brilliant!!!
So, above you can see the afterthought heal to the right,
and the gaping hole from the lifeline
(live stitches now stable on a circular needle)
on the left.

I Kitchenered myself silly!!
But this handy little gadget really helps:

I picked it up several months ago at my local yarn shop,
and use it often.
It takes all of the mystery out of the Kitchener,
plus it has those cute little doggie scissors
which always make me smile!

I was quite impressed when I reached the end of the row:
my weaving was almost invisible:

…..and now I have another new pair of socks
to keep my feet warm this summer!

Oh, yeah, the socks don't really match, do they?
I like them that way….
keeps folks guessing!

In case you want to know,
the yarn is from FabFunkyFibres -
a great place to shop!

Hope you've had a great weekend!

Peace to you and yours!

Well that all went - swoosh!- over my head! (It wouldn't take much tonight.) LOL! I think I know what you did. Regardless, those scissors are adorable. LOL! I love your socks. They make me smile. Hope the side effects are less than last time and that you are feeling perky soon. Sending hugs and love. xoxo

Absolutely gorgeous socks although I haven't a clue what you were talking about! They turned out great and the colours match, just in a different order.

Wonderful socks, Judy, and as others have said, I have no idea what you did to rescue them. Hope you are feeling better today and hope that's just about the end of the chemo. Mucho hugs to you! xox
