In an effort to destash,
I decided to make myself some drawstring bags.
This is beautiful fabric that I dyed
in a Shibori class taught by
I lined the bag with some other of my hand-dyed fabrics.
This bag is large enough to hold a
good-sized knitting project,
such as the sweater which is currently residing inside.
The drawstring bag obsession actually began here:
I wanted to make a wine bag
as we were dining with friends
and bringing a bottle of wine.
While I like this fabric,
I think the bag needs to be a bit taller.
(I used my gelli print plate to decorate this piece.)
So, then I made this bag
out of some fabric that I dyed a few weeks back.
It's only about an inch taller,
but I like it better.
Also, the fabric is a finer weave,
so it isn't quite so stiff.
I like the look of the handmade drawstrings
better than the ribbons,
so I will concentrate on making those as well
in the future.
I've gone through my stash,
and have found lots more fabrics
that will soon become bags.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Peace to you and yours!

I also need to do some stash-busting. I recently moved, and my new flat, although a lot bigger than the old one, isn't as generous when it comes to storage space. So I'd do myself a favour by actually using up some of the fabrics that I've collected. Thanks for the inspiration and enjoy your weekend!
What fab bags -- and GREAT dyeing, too! xoxo
stash busting is a never ending activity here. love your drawstring bags. i'm in a pouch craze lately. i love making pouches which also results in getting rid of some fabric and nice to have to give as gifts.
Beautiful! I love the shibori that you made in your class. One can never have too many pouches or bags. Have a happy!
The Shibori is gorgeous! You're making good use of your de-stashing. Please come here to help me de-stash, Judy, I'm sinking under the weight of my stuff but unlike yours, it is mostly metal and much heavier.XOX
A great way to use up those beautiful fabrics, although I think I would struggle to part with them!
