"Painted Buckeye"

I've recently completed a new piece,
"Painted Buckeye".
It is part of the 2014 SAQA SC/GA Regional Challenge.
Members were mailed swatches of the vividly dyed fabric that I used in the leaves
and asked to make a 12 x 12" piece of art incorporating it.

"Painted Buckeye"    12 x 12"

The background fabric consists of pieces of cotton
which I wrapped our Easter eggs in last Spring,
before dyeing them in red cabbage, Turmeric, and beets.

I added some embroidery using hand-dyed floss,
a bit of beading,
and machine stitching.

Oh yes, and there's also a bit of image transfer on the background fabric.

The lace is a lovely bit that has been calling my name
since the days when I did a lot of French hand sewing.
I tea-dyed it for this piece.

The great thing about this piece is that it has jump-started my creative juices!
I've cleared off my design wall,
added pieces of my next project and I'm ready to roll!
WooHoo!!

Thanks for popping by!
Have a great day!

Peace to you and yours!

Love this and also love the variety of media and recycling the egg dying fabric.

Loverly!!! The piece of lace is gorgeous and I like the text peeking out. My design wall is blank, but so is my mind. LOL! I need to get out of this house and find some inspiration. Have a wonderful day!

Glad that it's jump started your creativity, although I don't think it eve really left the building.
