The Good, The Not-So-Good, and the WONDERFUL!!!

Today was the day I had been dreading for quite some time, but it had to be done! Ever since my Mom had her bad fall (almost three years ago), all clothes shopping for her has either been done by me alone (without her being along) or by catalogue. My Mom had been a shopper and she just loved to shop...it was to her what sewing and dyeing are to me. It was her life after she retired. So, along with all of her health issues, not being able to go shopping has been horrible for her. I promised to take her shopping just as soon as my Athens UUFA show was hung and the opening was over. My Mom doesn't forget things like that, so I had to be sure that I was really going to follow through with this offer. Barker and I walked the golf course early this morning, I had my breakfast and was just getting into my coffee and emails when the phone rang. Mom was through with her hairdresser's appointment and wanted to know how soon I'd be there to pick her up!!! So, I jogged off to the shower and was there in 30 minutes. We had a rather nice time of it, actually. Even helping her in and out of the car, and getting the @#%&*!! wheelchair in and out of the trunk didn't seem like the backbreaking task it usually is. She bought EIGHT pairs of slacks and 8+ coordinating tops plus a pair of shoes!!! YIKES!!!! We had a ball....and then we went out to lunch. As she was crawling into her bed for her afternoon nap she told me that she hoped C would let me take the rest of the afternoon off and nap too! LOL...me, nap? Not a chance!!! I was just putting some silk on to steam when the FedEx man drove down the drive. C called to me and said that my favorite UPS man must be here, but I said no, it was my even more favorite FedEx man......little did I know!!! I finished putting the silk in the steamer, but I was dying to open the big envelope, because IT WAS FROM GERRIE!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!

So, here we are:

I wanted to photograph the entire process of the big unwrap, but the suspense was about to kill me!! Look, you can see a bit of my gift peaking out from the left side! I was being good though, taking pictures first!!

And Voila, there you have it!!!!:

I am so crazy about this wallhanging I could just burst!!! The colors are marvelous...ME!!! And the cross! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, it is so wonderful!! Gerrie, thank you so very, very much!!!

Here it is again, totally unwrapped this time:

Don't you just love it!!!!
The more I look at and admire this cross, it appears to me that the arms are opening wide and are ready to give me and everyone else a big hug! Does it look that way to you too? I'm also reminded of the large piece that Gerrie did for her California church and then the commissioned piece that she did for the Alabama church. I first began reading Gerrie's blog when she did the first large hanging. All along I've admired her work, but her liturgical pieces especially. Now I have this one of my very own! Oh my!!!

I also love the chartreuse tissue paper with the sparkles all over it...sorta reminds me of the little camisole I've got on today:

I may just have to dye this chartreuse.........whatdayathink??????
THANKS GERRIE!! YOU REALLY MADE MY DAY!!!
PEACE!!!!

I have been tracking that package and thought it would never get there!! Whew. It makes me so happy that it has brought so much joy to your day! That is really the best reason to make art, I think.

And yes, you teeny little thing, dye it chartreuse.

Whoops, I hit return, before I finished - I am not really anonymous and I must have hit it twice. Yikes.

Anyway, wanted to say, did you notice that the card is a Lisa design?

I'm glad to hear that your Mom is doing fine.
What a colorful and lovely gift you got from your friend Gerrie.

I have a question:
Have you recived any emails from me lately?
It seems that they don't want to get through to your email address, because I get messages like this:
"Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender, could not be delivered". (?)
I think that I've sent you at least three or four emails lately.

I'm sorry but I haven't received my packeage yet. Perhaps you have to check that out at your post office. Here in Sweden we can track the package we send. Maybe you can do that too.

Oh, what a beautiful surprise! Yes, it does look as though the cross is greeting everyone with open arms in a big hug. I agree with Gerrie - with that tiny waist, dye it chartruese! Cheers
