Oh Happy Day!

Today was a pretty special day at our house. Not only did we celebrate Mothers Day, but also my Mom's 91st birthday! Now that is quite a milestone, don't you think?

Our friend Bobbie is a great cook, in fact she was a caterer in a previous life. We adore her and have grown very fond of her Mom since she moved nearby last year. So it was only natural that Bobbie and her Mom join us for a gala celebration. Here are our two Moms, enjoying a spot of wine before dinner:

As I said, Bobbie is some kinda cook! She had made a fabulous Italian cake ahead of time, and brought the fixins to assemble this incredible Strawberry Shortcake for our dessert:

Sorry, but we didn't save you a bite!

C and I had marinated a boneless leg of lamb, which he then smoked, Bobbie made some yummy popovers, I steamed fresh asparagus and made a salad of mixed greens, berries and mandarin oranges (Bobbie supplied the Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing), and then of course there was the fabulous dessert! MMMMMMMMMM

Here are our guests:
and here are C, Barker and I with the Moms:

We missed our friends Bill and Elizabeth who are down and out with colds, and also our daughter and son-in-law, who had work-related obligations due to last night's powerful storms in our area.

Hope you had a Happy Day too!

PEACE

Just a quick check in from the Sea of Galilee. Loved seeing your finished kitchen. A belated happy birthday to your Mom. I heard about the horrible storms in the SE when I awoke this morning and was happy to see your post.

I just heard about the storms too so pleased you are all okay. Your lunch was obviously a culinary success, that strawberry shortcake looked stunning. I still don't know what a popover is though, you'll have to explain. I sure your Mum had a great day and that you remembered to pass on the birthday wishes. My 91 year old Mum spent her day nursing the new baby, so lovely to see. Love the photo of you all with the handsome Barker. XXOO
