This shawl is from the same design as 'Salsa', which I showed you a few weeks ago, although this is a totally different silk and there is no yellow in this one. Once again, I'm sure that the 'stays-on' benefits of this garment are best illustrated when a model is present.....but alas, both Jennifer and I are at our respective homes, so no video!
The silk is a very interesting weave
I purchased it from Thai Silks and it is 100% silk. I just love how it shimmers in the light. I wish you could see that aspect of it, but I'm afraid you'll just have to use your imagination. I dyed the silk in a double process with Itajime Shibori used in the first (I think you can see that pretty clearly on the back of the shawl). In the second layer, I wrapped the silk pieces on a thick nylon rope before dyeing. Procion MX dyes were used throughout this process. I like the play of the two colors, and think this will make a very nice Spring/Summer/Fall wrap.
Thanks for dropping by my blog. Hope you've had a great day!
PEACE
