Life is Good

Life is definitely good here, and I hope it is for you as well.  I have nothing fiber-related to show you........not that I've been doing top secret stuff, but simply that when I've accomplished any pieces, they've gone directly to the shop for sale, and I haven't had time to photograph them.  I've had a few really nice sales there, which pleases me immensely, and I love both my co-workers and our clients so much.  If you're ever in the very fun and 'in' Inman Park area of Atlanta, I hope that you will stop by At the Collective......you will be amazed at what we have to offer!

So, what have I been doing?????  Well, I've been gardening a little bit.  My Ecchinacea are beginning to bloom, and I am pleased to see so many whites this year!  I worked hard at letting my solitary white blooms go to seed last year, and I think it paid off!

I'm also pleased to find a number of Cleome plants coming back from several years ago.  I wonder why that has happened?  Could it be the wet summer we enjoyed in '09, the fish emulsion that I religiously doused everywhere last year (thanks Michael!), or just happenstance?  I love Cleome, so they are most welcome here!

I'm doing a lot of reading these days.....and painting!  My Mom gave me this marvelous book for my birthday, and I am reading and studying it....and doing the exercises!

Most of you don't need this sort of 'work' but I definitely do!  So, as I paint my color wheels, I occasionally glance out the window at the lake and the bird feeders.  Our hummers are back, a little late this year and nobody seems to know why, and our family of catbirds has also returned.  I love to hear them sing...and I love to watch them eat the Mahonia berries and the suet that C makes weekly.  Here's my view from my perch where I paint

So, you see: it is indeed a good life!

Thanks for bearing with me during my fallow blogging time....and know that your comments are always appreciated.  I miss reading your blogs and hope to be back up and 'running' amongst you very soon!

PEACE

Glad your time off has been productive and fun- but I have missed reading about your adventures!

Your garden looks gorgeous. That is one gift I do not possess, with the possible exception of vegetables. I'm grateful for all the green thumbs around me!

This book seems very interesting - I read a few sentences, as far as possible - so true, you have to ignore what you know about the things you want to draw. I found out that you have to look at what you draw with an empty mind, almost free from any intellectual activity. If this did not work, I used to draw upside down with the photo upside down, too. Thus having become completely stupid, I was able to draw difficult portraits more easily and resembling.

Nice to read about your garden Judy. Winter here, and raining, but am looking forward to gardening again in spring.
