A Lesson to be Learned

I love to dye yarn!
While knitting the sock that I showed you yesterday,
I realized that the cables and intricate pattern
would have been far more visible
on a less busy yarn.
So, I decided to dye another skein of sock yarn
and knit the pattern on it.
Above is the new yarn
and below is the new toe.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

As promised, here are a few photos of the completed sock:

It is called the Kellswater sock and it was designed by
Sara Morris.
You can find it in the Spring 2012 issue of Interweave Knits.
I fell in love with the pattern the moment I saw it.

Here's a detail shot of the sock front

see what I mean:
the pattern would have shown up better on a less busy yarn.

Here's the back:

There's a lovely pattern with both an anchor and a pine tree
but you can barely see either, due to the yarn.
sigh...........!

but the cuff is still pretty glorious!

I've chosen a new pattern for my second sock in this variegated yarn.
It's the Brother Amos Hellfire Lace Sock,
(don't you just love that name!!!)
designed by Brenda Dayne of the Cast On podcast.
I'm adapting the pattern a little bit,
but I hope it will show up better,
along with the lovely yarn.
The fact that my two socks will have different patterns
doesn't bother me a bit!
That will add interest and promote conversation -
don't you think?

Vacation Bible School is over.
The kids had a great time,
and I think the teachers did too!
I'm sad but I'm also very tired.
There's really nothing better than seeing something through the eyes of
a child!

peace

That's one gorgeous sock!!! I love the yarn color and the pattern is wonderful. I'm going to try to find it and knit myself a pair. Are they top-down, I hope?

Kudos to you for a week of VBS - something I spent many a summer doing in my murky past.

As Gerrie said, kudos to you! I love children, but a week? lol! The socks are gorgeous even if the pattern doesn't show up a lot. I like the newly dyed yarn. Have a happy!
