a book in progress

Claudia, my book-binding friend,
and I spent the day together.
I wanted to learn how to sew a coptic binding,
and she was willing to teach me.
Above is my practice piece.
I think this binding will become
my favorite method -
it is somewhat addictive.

This is the cover of my book
a simple paste board cover,
but I love it.
We got together several months ago
and just doodled around on watercolor paper,
and this is what I ended up with.

So, my assignment over the next two weeks
is to gather, cut, and fold my signatures,
and
procure my binding thread -
unsure as to whether I will buy or
dye perle cotton.

I look forward to constructing this baby!

peace

Hi Judy, your excite is contagious . . . not that I'm ready to go do what you are doing, but it makes me want to RUN to the studio and create something:)
Anyway, it sounds like you are having a great time doing what you love. Bravo!!!
Have fun.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

Love the cover you have made! I just shudder to think of the "trouble" we could get into if we weren't 2500 miles apart! LOL! Wishing you a beautiful weekend.

Hi Judy - what fun! As much as I love cloth, there is also something very appealing about a hand made book.
