More Sacred Threads & the Textile Museum

I wanted to share a couple more photos
from yesterday's visit to
the Sacred Threads exhibit.
Above are (l)my friend Lisa Kerpoe's piece
"Origins"
and (r) Wen Redmon's piece
"Trees Seen, Forest Remembered".

This is Marianne Williamson's piece
"Pollution in the Gulf":

I love her threadwork,
which, unfortunately, you cannot see here.
Williamson has two pieces in the show,
both are exquisite.

It seems that the rain has followed us here.
Overnight, the area had 3-4" of rain.
Our plan for today was to go into DC and visit
 both the Textile Museum
and the National Gallery,
and then revisit Sacred Threads.
We got a late start
but did make it to the Textile Museum.

"Out of Southeast Asia"
is their current exhibit.
I was eager to see the batik work of
Agus Ismoyo and Nia Fliam,
as I had viewed it online and was captivated.
It is so much more incredible in person!

(This is just an image shared from the
Textile Museum website.)
If you can, you should see it.

The other works,
by Carol Cassidy and Vernal Bogren Swift,
are equally amazing.

The rain continued,
the traffic was a mess
(we had decided to take the car
rather than the Metro -
bad mistake),
and parking was insane.
That said, we never made it inside the National Gallery.
We were both tired,
so headed back to the hotel,
took long naps
and slept long after Sacred Threads had closed for the day.

Tomorrow we are looking forward to
coffee in the AM with friends,
and then lunch and the exhibit
with a much-missed and longtime family friend.
We will be well-rested,
the rain should be long gone,
and the day promises to be very bright!

thanks for dropping by

peace to you

You are lucky to have such places nearby. Love Wen's piece.

Hope the rain has gone. Trying to stay out of the heat here which is unusual!

The more I see of the show, the more I want to hop on a plane to DC. Wen's artwork always amazes me and I always love seeing Lisa's beautiful artwork. Thanks!
