"Here Today" and "Gone Tomorrow"

"Here Today"
is my first wire sculpture
aside from the "Acorn House" I made for little Charlie.
I used the paper cloth
to make an inner bra or lining,
which I then affixed to the outer structure with more wire.
I added some decorative wire as well.

This was not an original idea,
but one that I adapted from a dvd
taught by Jenny Cochran Lee,
called Collage in the Round,
which I found in Craft Daily.
As you can probably see,
I did a lot of journaling on this first piece.
It was quite therapeutic.
And it was also helpful for me to build the structure.

I decided it was only right that since I had built
a 'before' piece, that I should also
construct an 'after' surgery structure.
So, here is "Gone Tomorrow"

I thoroughly enjoyed constructing this second piece!
I felt at peace and free to do as I pleased -
as I hope to feel after my surgery.

My friend Bernice shared a bumper sticker she saw recently:
"Got Boobs? Check 'Em!"
I want that to be the subtitle of this installation
in my show.
.....and by the way, that advice is for you too!!!

I hope to do more wire structures in the future.
I'm not sure of the subject matter,
but I thoroughly enjoyed making something
3-dimensional,
and adding the cloth/paper layer.

All of these photos should enlarge,
so feel free to take a closer look at the construction.

thanks for stopping by

peace to you and yours

These are very cool, Judy! And just think, you won't have to wear a bra anymore! I actually haven't worn one in years -- I wear men's a-shirts as camis instead. Have a great weekend! xoxo

Love them! I especially love the "after" one. It speaks loudly of the freedom you will have from worry, treatments, etc. Soon you will be take those feathers and soar. I know you will. I look at Melanie's journey and how all that she has worked towards is coming to fruition and I know the same will be true for you. Get out that dream list and fly! xoxo

Can't tell you how touched I am to see your creations. My sister is a 4 year breast cancer survivor, so to see how this project helped you... wow. You really made my day! Bless you!

I was wondering what you were going to do with the fantastic feathers in the previous post but you have surpassed yourself. These are two amazingly powerful pieces.
