Barn Dance: For Francine

I've finally finished piecing my class piece from Jan Myers-Newbury's Shibori class at the Barn. It has had me so excited I've actually been getting up an hour early for the past few mornings, just so I can sew a few seams in peace! Now all I need is some batting and backing fabric, and I'll be ready to quilt! YAYYYYY!

I named this piece even before it was totally conceived and/or assembled. My friend Francine passed away while I was taking the class, and I wanted to dedicate this to her memory. She was such a great gal and a huge inspiration to so many people in the area. I know she is dancing once again and free from pain and suffering!

PEACE

Francine is dancing above and thrilled with having this piece of art named after her! Wouldn't that be a beautiful shawl!

she was an amazing woman, and I know that she is dancing, free from all of the worldly mess that had become her life over the past couple of years

I'm so glad you all like it!

The colors are gorgeous. Will this be a silk quilt? The material looks like silk. Sorry about your friend, but it's nice of you to dedicate the quilt to her.

Judy, It's even more beautiful that I remembered from "the barn".
Such a loving tribute to Francine!

I haven't started putting together my piece (actually two of them) yet. Maybe this weekend...

So sorry for your loss, but the quilt turned out beautiful. It helps me when I make something in memory of someone, then I can look it and it often inspires good memories.
